GUY HOARE

Guy has been designing lighting for theatre, dance, opera and musicals for ten years. He has lit some thirteen shows for London Classic Theatre. Recent theatre credits include The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, Bollywood Jane, Macbeth and How Many Miles to Basra? at West Yorkshire Playhouse; Amadeus, Could it be Magic?, The Little Fir Tree, another Macbeth and a double bill of Fen and Far Away for Sheffield Crucible; Season’s Greetings at Liverpool Playhouse, Of Mice and Men at The Mercury Theatre, Colchester; A Streetcar Named Desire for Clwyd Theatr Cymru.

He was the lighting designer for Henri Oguike Dance Company for about six years, designing about twenty new works. Other recent designs for dance include Thought Latching on to Thought and Pulling and Passing Strange and Beautiful for Ben Wright; Odyssey for Krische/Wright, Green Apples, Bad History, and Sea of Bones for Mark Bruce; and Who Shall Come To The Ball? for Candoco, choreographed by Rafael Bonachela; and Mischief for Theatre Rites, choreographed by Arthur Pita. His latest work, Square Map of Q4 for Rafael Bonachela premièred in January 2008. Current projects include a new piece for Ben Wright and a UK tour of Havana Rakatan.

His opera credits include The Magic Flute, Hansel & Gretel, Tosca, The Marriage of Figaro and Wagner’s Ring Cycle for Longborough Festival Opera; Simon Boccanegra, The Merry Widow, Tosca and Cosi Fan Tutte for Opera UK; Onegin and Seraglio for English Touring Opera; he is currently designing Don Giovanni, Anna Bolena, and Susannah for their 2008 season.

Recent musicals include Lloyd-Webber’s Aspects of Love on tour in the UK, Sondheim’s Assassins at The Crucible, Sheffield, City of Angels in Frankfurt and My Fair Lady in Singapore, all directed by Nikolai Foster. He also lit Tracy Beaker Gets Real for Nottingham Playhouse. 2008 will see designs for a new production of Witches of Eastwick and All the Fun of the Fair touring the UK, with a production of Sunset Boulevard to open in 2009.
