Julie started acting with Dublin Youth Theatre, studied acting at Trinity College Dublin, Studied with Uta Hagen at the HB Studio, New York, Tim McDonald at the New Theatre, Dublin and with Impulse Theatre, London. For London Classic Theatre Old Times and Love in the Title. Other theatre includes Lovechild, Ceausescu’s Ear and Pericles all with Gerry Stembridge, Sunshine Boys at the Gate Theatre Dublin, Exiles by James Joyce at The Friends of the Italian Opera Theatre, Berlin, Irish National tour of Canaries, Abigail’s Party and The Gingerman at The New Theatre. The Gingerman then transferred to the Irish Arts Centre, New York where she also did Red Roses and Petrol.

Julie's film and television work includes My Left Foot, Ash Wednesday, Troubles, Black and White, When Brendan me Trudy, Flick, Black Day at Blackrock, Bobbie’s Girl, Bloom, The Bone Hunter, Raindogs and W.C.

Julie plays Terry Deegan in the Irish Soap Fair City.
